Styled Bridal Boudoir

Some times you have an idea, and you just have to run with it! I have always wanted to shoot a gorgeous woman sitting in an old fashioned chair in the middle some reflective waters. Of course putting the vision into motion is not always as easy as you think… When I had the opportunity to shoot this styled bridal boudoir, I had to try! In the end we were rained out suddenly, but I still think we got some really beautiful shots! And some inspiration for the next shoot. A special thanks to Opihi Love for supplying this great chair in such short notice! For those of you who are not familiar with Opihi Love, check it out at opihilove.com, they are a vintage rental shop for unique wedding props / supplies or any type of specialized party or event for that matter. Melissa whom runs this business has fantastic taste and style! Also, thank you to Jessica with MakeUpMaui.com. She did such a beautiful job on our already beautiful girl. Jessica nailed that water nymph look we wanted to accomplish. Not to mention (not in her job description) but helped with the styling and hair as well! It always makes it so much easier to pull off a fun idea when you have a great team behind you!  I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I enjoyed shooting them.

Gonna be a BIG BROTHER soon!

This gorgeous mom and dad are expecting their second child any day now! Soon to be big brother, a ruff & tumble dude will have plenty to teach his little sister or brother when her or she arrives. This family including grandma and grandpa were such a pleasure to shoot. And as you can see pregnancy really suits mama Maggie! Which is great, because pregnancy is her business. Maggie is a certified Sacred Pregnancy teacher, a training birth doula and prenatal yoga instructor here on Maui. You better believe if I am ever so blessed to experience mother hood, I will be calling her!

On their photo shoot Maggie and Pieter brought with them some baby booties soon to be worn by baby #2.  Also, Maggie brought a quilt which was made by her “mami” great grandma to add a really sweet and personal element to thier photos.  I think it is always a good idea to include such things in these types of portraits.  In some cases the photo may out last the personal effects, but you will always be able to look back on it all!

I am so looking forward to meeting Maggie’s and Pieter’s newest addition and maybe you will see some new born photos soon?!

      Mauified ~ Kehau & Josh

One of the happiest most loving couples ever! Kehau and Josh were all about the love… Their ceremony was performed by Rev. Al on the Lower Knoll at Gannons. Their family and friends were so enthusiastic to celebrate their union with them. And Kehau was thrilled to be in Hawaii where her name was always going to be pronounced as it is meant to be… After their sweet union we headed to a near by beach for some fun and romantic picture taking.  Then back to Gannons for a slice of cake and first dance.

Beautiful Blue ~ Serenity & John

Serenity & John were married in Makena Cove on a bright and beautiful afternoon. As I was working on their images, I just saw blue every where! The brides eyes, their theme color and of course the sky! The light that day made every color pop. These two were willing to be adventurous and get off the beach. So we headed to an old lava field. Our extra efforts paid off big time! It was a dramatic look with her gorgeous mermaid dress against the crackly black rock.

Honeymoon Happiness ~ Stephanie & Anthony

This beautiful couple were married back home in Canada. But they spend a lot of time here on Maui and it holds a special place in their hearts. So of course they had to have some honeymoon photos here! Not only is this bride absolutely gorgeous, but she is talented too! She designed and made her own wedding dress. It was lovely with an almost vintage look to it. I was totally impressed. With all the hard work she put into her dress, she did not want to get it dirty so Anthony and Stephanie just wanted a simple shoot here in their beloved Maui.  And that is just what we did!

A Swinging Good Time ~ Alyson & Jim

Alyson & Jim were so in love… This couple made me tear up a little! They were married on the Lower Knoll at Gannon’s. And of course wanted to then get their toes in the sand right after! We took advantage of a home made swing hanging from the trees at the beach, which totally added to the romance of the day. As the couple arrived they were swept straight into their first dance and cake cutting. So they could enjoy the rest of the night with friends and family!

              A+ Love ~ Alexis & Adam

Oh my gosh!! These two were the cutest!  They had a quiet early morning ceremony at Makena Cove.  And WOW what a gorgeous morning it turned out to be…  Alexis and Adam were so lovey dovey and having a blast, just the two of them.  I could have photographed them all day.  But I had to let them go and enjoy their Maui honeymoon.

Their precious moment was coordinated by Laurie from Makena Weddings and ceremony performed by Rev. Al Terry.

Lipstick & Mustaches ~ Kyla and Travis’ Wedding

This stunning couple had a little throw back element added to their day. Inspired by the grooms “Charlie Chaplin” style mustache tattoo on his finger. They decided to supply temporary tattoo’s to all their guests and add little “stashes” on all the straws and glasses. This made for an almost costume party attitude with out all the fluff! Some how that mustache strategically placed made it so you were free to be silly and goofy… What a sweet idea and loads of fun too!

Kyla and Travis stayed at the boutique resort Hotel Wailea which is just a stones throw away from the beach & Gannon’s where they were married at the lower knoll. The day was a whirl wind for me, so I can only imagine our couple was swept away in all the love and romance!

Pretty in Blue & White ~ Colleen & Peter

Fun Fun Fun!  Three words to describe this couple…  What a beautiful wedding they had on a private ocean front property, they had the whole evening to themselves.  The bridesmaids dresses were so sweet and appropriate for an out door wedding and looked great on all the girls.  Thank you Laurie w/ Makena Weddings!

Blissful Beach Wedding | Heather & Kelsey

A blissful beach wedding for Heather and Kelsey….  You could not have asked  for a better afternoon at Po’olenalena Beach!  Just a light breeze and great cloud cover to make for nice light and a dramatic sky.  Their whole group was beaming with happiness for this couple.  And we made the most of ever drop of light the sun had to offer.  Congratulations you two!
